Your conversation is confidential. There is a fee for the consultation, and it is applied toward your retainer if you hire the firm.
How much will my defense cost?
Fees depend on the charge and what the case requires, so they are set on a retainer basis after we understand your situation. We will be clear about cost up front, and the firm accepts cash, check, and credit card. The goal is a defense that fits your case, with no surprises.
Will my case have to go to trial?
Many cases resolve before trial, but you are in a far stronger position when the prosecutor knows your attorney is ready and willing to try the case. William Hackett prepares every case as if it will be tried, which is often what produces a better resolution short of trial.
Do you handle federal cases and appeals?
Yes. The firm practices in both Michigan state courts and federal court, and handles appeals as well as trial-level defense. If you were convicted and believe the result was wrong, there may be grounds to challenge it on appeal.
